Our Mission
The mission of the Second Chance Café emerged organically as an act of community resistance and collaboration.
This mission is three-fold: to reduce food poverty, food waste and social isolation
We serve around 100 people per day, two-thirds of whom are economically disadvantaged, including many suffering from homelessness, unsettled immigration status, social isolation and mental health difficulties.
These meals are made from majority donated and end-of-life produce, including the flowers that adorn our tables, and the bread that accompanies our delicious soup.
Not only does the Second Chance Café approach those who need it most, but it also to serves as a place of encounter, creating a space that actively breaks down prejudice and uplifts the value of people in each other's eyes.
